Biography
Rose Gelderblom Waddilove (b.1992, South Africa) completed her BFA at Michaelis School of art in 2014. Rose is a South African artist focussed on observing and representing landscapes. Rose’s work has always centred around the view, the common experience of relating to the space we do or don’t occupy. Since graduating Rose has been exploring the intersections between political art and figurative and landscape painting- travelling through contested spaces and telling stories of the Political Landscape. The return to representational land- scape painting shows an intimacy and vulnerability in Rose’s work. Her use of texture and colour creates images within the image that are reminiscent of the multiplicity of narratives that Rose sees in the South African landscape.
